About KNDI
The Kenya Nutritionists & Dieticians Institute(KNDI) is mandated to provision of an enabling environment for the sustained improvement of the nutrition and dietary status of all Kenya’s population groups. KNDI is charged with licensing all practicing nutritionists and dietitians in Kenya. KNDI conducts professional exams bi-annually in the months of June and December
Student Indexing
Student indexing is a procedure of registration of students by assigning them unique identifiers. This process is applicable to all those enrolled for certificate, diploma and degree courses in nutrition and dietetics in accredited institutions recognized by KNDI. The KNDI wishes to establish and maintain a database of students pursuing nutrition and dietetics programs at certificate, diploma and degree levels in accredited training institutions. This data will be essential for tracking the development of professionals in nutrition and dietetics. It will also ensure that quality standards in training are maintained, an aspect of which is admission criteria and student teacher ratio determined by this indexing process.
Indexing will provide a link between the learners, accredited training institutions and the regulatory body (KNDI). It will provide data for forecasting, manpower planning, employment and deployment to the nutrition and health labour market.
Indexing Objectives
i. To ensure students admitted in training institutions meet the set KNDI entry requirements
ii. To identify students and track nutrition and dietetics training capacity
Benefit to the Student
The indexing guidelines will be beneficial to the students by enabling registered students during and after training. Will give them the confidence that they have met the criteria and confirm that they are bona fide students of nutrition and dietetics, registered in an accredited institution. Will also be assured of being captured in the database of the council for purposes of training placements (including internship placement) and benefit from training package that is essential for their professional training in line with KNDI training standards
